Bio of Andre Newell
Andre Newell (Director of Fundraising JDCF )
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Andre Newell is responsible for the overall design, development and delivery of client programs, as well as content development at Caribrand Communications. He is responsible for many successful program strategies encompassing direct and database marketing, sponsorships, social media, digital marketing, contesting, lead management, event management, customer strategy development and experiential marketing programs for a variety of Caribbean organizations. In 2009, his innovative online campaign won Best Virtual Marketing Campaign at the Festival and Events Ontario Awards, for his work on Scotiabank Caribana. Over the years, Andre has completed extensive training in Creative Advertising, Graphic Design and Strategic Marketing. He is also a frequent speaker and panelist on marketing strategy and sits on advisory committees for leading companies and organizations.
Andre sits on the board of directors for the Caribbean Tourism Organization Scholarship Foundation, an organization that offers scholarships to Caribbean students pursuing tourism related studies. He was also instrumental in the launching of the organization’s flagship fundraiser, “Rum & Rhythm.”
Andre is an active member at his church, Kingdom Covenant, where he sits on various committees. He is the lead program coordinator for the Millionaires In Training program, which is an enrichment program focused on teaching youth skills not taught in the classroom. Utilizing a combination of in-class seminars, hands-on workshops and experiential field trips, students develop skills such as financial intelligence, leadership, entrepreneurship, character and social skills.
Most recently, Andre was responsible for the launch of the highly successful monthly event, The Toronto Monologue Slam, which has become Canada’s premiere showcase for up-and-coming actors to develop their skills, network with industry professionals and share the love of live theatre.
Overall, Andre has a passion for Jamaica and regularly attends events, conferences and functions that engage the Jamaican diaspora and consistently volunteers his time and skills to projects aimed at benefiting Jamaica. His goal has always been to make a significant contribution to the people of Jamaica.
